For outstanding soil protection
Soil quality and fertility are decisive factors for agricultural success. The CLAAS JAGUAR forage harvester equipped with TERRA TRAC crawler tracks keeps the load on the soil to a minimum while providing a high level of driving comfort and ensuring optimal traction.
Farmers know how important it is to protect the soil. The CLAAS JAGUAR with its standard large tyres is already very well equipped to do so. In order to minimise ground pressure and protect the field soil structure, the JAGUAR can be equipped with an innovative tyre pressure control system for both the front and rear wheels. The system is extremely easy to use: the operator sets the desired tyre pressure in the CEBIS onboard computer before setting off. The tyre pressure adjusts automatically to the driving conditions. This means, for example, that the JAGUAR can run on the road safely and stably with high tyre pressure at up to 40 km/h. When the machine is switched over to field work, the tyre pressure is automatically reduced to the optimal level. This produces a larger contact area and significantly reduced ground pressure during harvesting.
Excellent traction, high driving comfort
The increased contact area which results from the reduced tyre pressure leads not only to improved ground protection, but also to greater traction. The reduced tyre pressure functions like a suspension system that gently absorbs bumps – thereby enhancing driving comfort too.
The perfect addition: TERRA TRAC crawler tracks
The optional TERRA TRAC crawler track system for the JAGUAR 960 and the JAGUAR 990 provides an even higher degree of soil protection, traction and driving comfort. The TERRA TRAC system, available in three different crawler track widths, increases the contact area of the front axle to a significant degree. A particular advantage of the TERRA TRAC crawler track system is that it can keep the overall width of a machine to 3 m. This means that no additional authorisation for overwidth running is required and represents a clear advantage compared with wheeled machines with 800-size tyres and an overall width of 3.30 m. Another benefit of TERRA TRAC is that it makes for smooth running in the field and compensates for bumps almost completely. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the quality of the work in the field and the front attachment guidance. The result is an extremely consistent stubble field while the operator in the cab appreciates a particularly smooth, judder-free driving experience.
Headland protection for grass harvesting
On top of this, TERRA TRAC is equipped with a headland protection system. This comes into its own during turning manoeuvres when it protects the grass cover by automatically reducing the risk of a shearing force being applied by the long contact area of the crawler tracks. How it works: when a given rear-axle steering angle is detected, the two support rollers of the crawler track unit are automatically pushed down. This reduces the contact area by one third, rendering it comparable to that of a tyre. This feature is enabled automatically in combination with the PICK UP front attachment so that the JAGUAR with the TERRA TRAC system is able to be used throughout the whole year.
